Documents Required for E-Waste EPR Registration

The CPCB E-Waste EPR portal typically requires the following, though the exact list can vary by category and business structure:

Business identification

• Certificate of Incorporation, Partnership Deed or equivalent registration proof
• Company PAN and GST registration certificate
• PAN and Aadhaar of the authorized signatory who will manage EPR compliance and portal communication

Trade and category-specific documents

• Import Export Code (for importers)
• Details of EEE categories, model numbers and annual volumes handled
• Existing environmental authorization from the SPCB (for recyclers/refurbishers, where applicable)

EPR action plan and compliance history

• An EPR action plan describing your collection, channelization and recycling arrangements
• Agreements or tie-ups with registered recyclers, refurbishers or Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs)
• Previous EPR certificate and past return filings, if applying for renewal

Business and product details are used to establish your applicant category and the targets that will apply to your registration. Incomplete or inconsistent information across documents is a common cause of delay — check that company name, GST details and product information match across every document before submission.

Processing timelines depend on documentation completeness, regulatory review, and whether any queries are raised during the application — we don't quote a fixed number of days, since the CPCB review process is outside our control.

After E-Waste EPR Registration

Registration is the starting point, not the end, of E-Waste EPR compliance. Registered entities are generally expected to:

• Work toward collection and recycling targets applicable to their EEE category
• Channel e-waste only to CPCB-registered recyclers or refurbishers
• File periodic returns on the CPCB portal reporting EEE volumes placed in the market and e-waste collected
• Renew registration before expiry and update the portal if business details or product categories change

Where collection or recycling targets are not met, the E-Waste (Management) Rules provide for Environmental Compensation and other regulatory measures. Because rates and provisions are periodically updated by CPCB, we recommend confirming current figures directly with CPCB or during a compliance review rather than relying on a fixed number — we have not listed specific penalty amounts here to avoid quoting figures that may no longer be current.
